Lassi - the Indian yoghurt drink
There are a lot of 'off the shelf' yoghurt drinks available nowadays, but I strongly urge you to try a homemade one, such as the lassi below.
Lassi
Lassi is a yoghurt based drink that is one of the most refreshing drinks in the world - trust me! It is also very common in India, where it is drunk with meals.
It is also extremely simple to make, and can be either sweet or savoury
Recipe - banana lassi
200ml plain natural yoghurt
200ml very cold water, ideally with ice cubes in
one banana
a teaspoon of sugar
Put the ingredients in a blender, and blend on a reasonably slow speed. If you have included ice cubes you want pieces of ice to remain intact.
Drink.
The sugar can of course be adjusted according to taste.
Recipe - savoury lassi
For a savoury version, omit the sugar and add a big pinch of salt, and half a teaspoon of ground cumin instead. Add a small handful of fresh mint, blend and enjoy.
